Voter Mobilization
Nonprofit organizations have relationships with many disengaged voters, and a unique ability to help get them to the polls. Registering people to vote is the first step toward voter mobilization. Get out the vote (GOTV) efforts are the next step toward increasing voter participation. GOTV reminds people to vote and helps them get to the polls on Election Day. GOTV efforts can range from low impact, casual conversation, to intense, highly organized door-knock efforts. Nonprofit organizations can legally engage in nonpartisan GOTV efforts that are not time consuming nor difficult.
