July 19-23 What is a primary and why vote in it?

What exactly is a primary election? Think of the primary like the playoffs—it’s the first step in determining who will be on the ballot in the general election. By voting in the primary, you help determine who will make important decisions about jobs, schools, and community development.

You can vote in person on August 10 at the polls between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM. If you will be away from the precinct on that day, you can vote absentee by mail. Visit the Secretary of State’s website [http://mnvotes.org ] to locate your polling place or download and print an absentee ballot application, or call: 1-877-600-VOTE (8683).
